Non Bailable warrant against Vijay Mallya issued by Mumbai lower court

The problems for erstwhile business tycoon and owner of now defunct Kingfisher Airlines Vijay Mallya just got aggravated when the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court issued a non bailable warrant against him on Saturday in a case of cheque dishonor filed by Airport Authority of India (AAI).
This comes as a consequence of an earlier direction by the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in May when it had asked Mallya to be present in the next hearing which was today.
The AAI was fighting a case of two cheque dishonor worth Rs 50 crore and Rs 57 crore respectively since 2012 and has earlier sought the cancellation of Mallya’s permanent exemption from court appearances who now stands as an absconder with a total debt of over Rs 9000 crore.
Mallya’s lawyer stated that since the passport has been revoked he could not be present at the court hearing and that the procedure should be heard in his absence.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday said the two-week ceasefire in the fight against Iran was "not the end of the war" but a "stop on the way", as he vowed to achieve all war objectives, including the issue of Tehran's enriched uranium.
