Tata Tiago hatchback launching on April 6, 2016: Official
Tata Tiago will be launched on April 6, 2016 in India, confirms the homegrown carmaker. Just so you know, 'Tiago' is the rebranded 'Zica' that the company had showcased at the Auto Expo 2016. The company decided to drop the Zica name due to its resemblance with 'Zika' virus. The new name was selected through a name hunt contest that allowed people to suggest and vote for their favourite name.
Tata Tiago is based on the company's new design language IMPACT which will also be used for the Kite 5 sedan and few other upcoming Tata cars. Some of the standout design elements of the Tiago are wraparound headlights, 14-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, Tata's new signature grille with 'Humanity Line'. The company will also offer several customisation options to its buyers thus allowing them to style their car as per their taste.
The Tata Tiago will come with two all new engine options - a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and a 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel - coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox. While the petrol engine is good for 84bhp at 6000rpm and 114Nm at 3500rpm, the diesel mill produces 69bhp at 4000rpm and 140Nm at 1800-3000rpm.
The Tiago will be made available with a total of six colour options - Platinum Silver, Sunburst Orange, Espresso Brown, Pearlescent White, Striker Blue and Berry Red. Since the Tiago will rival products like Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Hyundai i10, we expect it to be priced in the range of Rs 3.80 lakh - Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
