New Delhi: The India-Pakistan foreign secretary-level talks scheduled to be held on Friday have been rescheduled, the Press Trust of India reported, citing the Pakistan foreign ministry.
The talks were meant to chalk out the way forward after the two countries announced the start of a fresh bilateral dialogue in December.
At a foreign ministry briefing in Islamabad, Pakistan foreign ministry spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said that mutual consultations were on to reschedule the talks, PTI said.
There was no immediate word from the Indian government on the announcement.
Khalilullah also did not confirm that key operatives of the Jaish e-Mohammed (JeM) militant group whom India holds responsible for the Pathakot air base attack on 2 January had been detained, as reported by many Pakistani media organisations on Wednesday.
“I have nothing more to say to the statement issued yesterday (Wednesday),” Khallilullah said referring to a statement released by the Pakistan prime minister’s office which said that many JeM operatives had been arrested.
According to Pakistani media reports, JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar and his brother were among those detained.
In New Delhi, Indian foreign ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup had said that there was no official communication from the Pakistani side on the detentions.
