Dadri lynching: Rajnath clarifies on PM Modi's silence; says centre have limited power in law and order issue

Giving clarification on Narendra Modi's silence over the Dadri lynching incident, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that the prime minister has given him the responsibility and the Centre cannot directly interfere in this matter.

Speaking to the media, Singh said, "PM has given me responsibility. Even with Dadri, we asked the State government for a report and sent an advisory."

Stating that there are limitations to Centre government, Singh added, "Maintaining law and order in the state is the responsibility of state government and we can't directly interfere."

Singh also said that BJP never indulges in communal politics and it might be that some people communalising an issue to gain political mileage. "In a healthy democracy all political parties should try to see that peace is maintained," Singh added.
