Yes Bank case to continue on 2 June
Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Wednesday said that the court-convened meeting between the two parties in the Yes Bank Ltd versus Madhu Kapur case will continue on 2 June.
The case relates to the two-year-long family dispute between Yes Bank’s two largest shareholders Rana Kapoor and Madhu Kapur.
“Both the parties are still in discussion. We will meet again on the 2nd [June],” justice G.S. Patel told the media after a closed-door hearing. Like on Tuesday, the media was kept out of the hearing, but was called for an update from the judge.
“It is unusual for the court to address the media but I know you are doing your job. I don’t want to be followed to my chamber because I do not speak to the press. There is nothing else there to be reported other than what I have said,” the judge said.
One of the respondents in the case, Madhu Kapur had moved the high court in June 2013. Wife of Yes Bank co-founder Ashok Kapur, she has been demanding the right to nominate directors to the bank’s board. Rana Kapoor’s wife Bindu and Madhu Kapur are sisters.
Ashok Kapur died in the 26 November 2008 Mumbai terrorist attack. Madhu Kapur’s daughter Shagun Kapur Gogia had applied to be a part of the bank’s board, but her application was turned down on the ground that she does not have sufficient experience.
