Prez polls: NDA nominee Droupadi Murmu to meet MPs, MLAs in Mumbai today

The National Democratic Alliance's presidential election nominee Droupadi Murmu will meet the ruling alliance MPs and MLAs here on Thursday as part of the campaign to seek support for her candidature.
The meeting is scheduled at a suburban hotel, before which a luncheon has been organised with the parliamentarians and legislators, sources said.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis will welcome Murmu on her arrival at the airport in Mumbai.
Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday announced his party's support for Murmu for the July 18 presidential election.
But, it is not known if she will meet Thackeray here.
The Opposition has fielded Yashwant Sinha against Murmu in the presidential election.
Murmu had earlier served as the Governor of Jharkhand. If elected, she will be the first tribal woman to hold the top constitutional office.

The death toll in the collapse of a building at Virar in Maharashtra's Palghar district has gone up to 15 with the recovery of three more bodies overnight, officials said on Thursday.
The unauthorised four-storey building, housing nearly 50 flats, collapsed on an adjacent vacant tenement at Vijay Nagar in Virar area at 12.05 am on Wednesday, they said.

India has invited Russian companies to invest in innovative space ventures in the country and tap its vast market, Ambassador Vinay Kumar said on Tuesday.
"The Government of India has offered lucrative schemes to create a conducive atmosphere in the space industry," Kumar said while addressing a function at the Indian Embassy here to mark the second National Space Day.

White House Trade Adviser Peter Navarro has intensified his criticism of India’s oil policy, accusing New Delhi of directly funding Moscow’s war in Ukraine and dubbing the conflict “Modi’s war”. Speaking to Bloomberg Television on Wednesday (local time), he claimed India is profiting from discounted Russian crude while hurting the US economy.
“I mean Modi’s war, because the road to peace runs, in part, through New Delhi,” Navarro said, escalating tensions between the US and India.
