Ten gram of 24-carat gold is selling at Rs 52,040 on Thursday, up Rs 1,090 since the last trade as demand jumped for the safe-haven bullion.
Ten gram of 22 carat gold is selling at Rs 47,700, up Rs 1,000 from Wednesday according to the Goodreturns website. One kg of silver is selling at Rs 67,200, up Rs 2,200 from the last trade.
In Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai, 24-carat gold is selling at Rs 52,040. The price of 22-carat gold in these cities is Rs 47,700.
In Chennai, 24-carat gold is selling at Rs 53,240. The price of 22-carat gold is Rs 48,800 in Chennai.
The prices of gold and silver vary across the country due to excise duty, state taxes, and making charges.
In Chennai, the price of 1 kg of silver is at Rs 72,100. In Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai, the price is at Rs 67,200.
Safe-haven demand for gold continues to be high. Western nations tightened sanctions on Russia as Ukraine's second biggest city, Kharkiv, suffered heavy bombardment on Wednesday and dozens of countries referred Moscow to be probed for potential war crimes, a report in Reuters said.

The government on Tuesday cleared the Rs 62,000 crore order to procure 97 additional indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mk1A fighter jets from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force (IAF), a defence source confirmed.
The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its final approval — marking the last step before the formal signing of the deal. The jets will be built by Bengaluru-headquartered HAL, a Maharatna public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence.

Reliance Infrastructure has received a letter of award (LoA) for a 390 megawatt (Mw) solar power project and 780 megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS) from NHPC, the company said.
The project is valued at Rs 4,000 crore, according to the industry estimates.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has launched a new rehabilitation initiative, the "Shramshree" scheme, aimed at Bengali migrant workers returning to the state after alleged harassment and discrimination in other states for speaking Bengali.
Banerjee, while addressing the media on Monday, said, "Due to speaking Bengali, other states declared them criminals. Twenty-two lakh migrant workers from West Bengal are working in other states. Today, they are suffering for speaking Bengali."
