Rejecting the CBI's closure report in the allotment of a coal block to Kumar Mangalam Birla's firm Hindalco, a special court today asked the CBI to question the then coal minister Manmohan Singh in the case.
"I desire that statements of then coal minister (Manmohan Singh) be recorded," a special judge told CBI.
The special court also ordered the CBI to further investigate the coal scam case allegedly involving former coal secretary P C Parakh.
The court directed the CBI to file status report of its further probe in the case on January 27.
In November, the court had asked CBI why Manmohan singh was not examined in the case.
Special CBI Judge Bharat Parashar had asked the agency: “Don’t you think examination of the then coal minister was necessary in the matter? Don’t you feel the need to examine him? Don’t you think his statement was necessary to present a clear picture?”
