Hyundai Kona electric teased ahead of 27th February debut: Details on Hyundai’s first ever electric SUV

Hyundai has just dropped a teaser of its Kona electric SUV that is set to make debut on 27th February. The company had introduced the Kona compact SUV concept last year. Media reports on the internet suggest that the powertrain on the upcoming Hyundai Kona electric SUV has been developed by LG chemicals in collaboration with Hyundai. The new Hyundai Kona will be launched in the United States in the second quarter of 2018. The electric SUV will come with two powertrain choices that will offer a total range of 470 to 500 km per single full charge. The car is expected to come with 40 kWh and 60 kWh battery packs. Talking of standard model, the new Hyundai Kona will come in both, petrol and diesel engines. While the petrol engine is good for churning out 147 bhp, the diesel engine is more powerful at 175 bhp. The torque on the petrol and diesel mills account at 179 Nm and 265 Nm respectively. Besides this, there will also be a 1.0-litre diesel engine on offer that produces 118 bhp of power and 172 Nm of torque.

Recently, the Hyundai Kona Iron man edition was spotted that was significantly different than the regular model in terms of visuals. The new Hyundai Kona Iron Man edition gets red accents that make the car look more visually appealing than before.

The Hyundai Kona Iron man edition is 40mm wider than the regular model and it runs on 19-inch Iron man themed wheels. The Iron Man edition has also been bestowed with chunky off-road tyres. The LED configuration at the front has also been revised and the golden accents have found a place on the hood, thereby further revealing the super hero type character. Coming back to the Hyundai Kona electric, more details on the eco-friendly SUV will be revealed on 27th February.
