Nifty surges to record high of 10,154.35, Sensex gains
Key indices on Monday open in green with Nifty reaching up to record high of 10,154.35 and Sensex gains180.15 points to trade at 32,452.76 following Asian markets which hit 10-year high on Monday.
At 9:17 am, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 32,458, up 185 points while the broader Nifty50 index was ruling at 10,150, up 65 points.
Asian shares hit decade highs on Monday and the dollar held firm early in a week in which the U.S. Federal Reserve is likely to wrestle with its bloated balance sheet as part of a long reversal of super-cheap money worldwide.
There was relief the weekend passed with no new provocation by North Korea, though Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions will be centre stage when U.S. President Donald Trump addresses world leaders at the United Nations on Tuesday.
Some details of Trump's tax plans may also emerge this week, while elections in Germany and New Zealand will add extra political uncertainty to the mix.
Key global events to watch in this week are - FOMC Policy statement on Wednesday, US and Euro Manufacturing and Services PMI data to be released on Friday. In absence of any major event in this week, we may see consolidation with higher bottom, bulls are still in charge and will continue attempting to scale new highs this week.
