MP bypolls: BJP registers win in 19 out of 28 seats, Congress settles for 9

BJP registered a crucial victory in the bitterly contested Madhya Pradesh bypolls winning by 19 seats and decimating the Congress that managed to secure just 9 seats.

According to the Election Commission of India, BJP secured a vote share of 49.5 per cent where Congress got 40.5 per cent votes.

With National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) dramatic win in the Bihar Assembly elections, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president Chirag Paswan congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the victory, claiming that CM Nitish Kumar only won because of him.

Chirag, who left NDA just before the polls, said that the voters in the state have expressed their faith in PM Modi and it is necessary that BJP gets stronger to usher in development in the state.

The government has made it mandatory for companies with annual turnover of at least Rs 100 crore to go for e-invoicing for business to companies (B2C) transactions from January 2021. It has come out with a notification to this effect.

Currently, e-invoicing is mandatory for companies with annual turnover of at least Rs 500 crore. While it was made mandatory from October, the government had put off penalty for errant companies for at least one month.

Against the backdrop of allegations by the RJD and the Congress that some results were being withheld by returning officers in Bihar, the Election Commission on Wednesday asserted that it was working with due diligence and was not under anyone's pressure.

Responding to allegations that victory certificates were not been handed over to candidates from the opposition grand alliance by returning officers on 119 seats, the Commission said the latest figures on its website state that while 146 results have been declared and trends of 97 other seats were available.

ONGC Videsh (OVL) has signed definitive binding agreements with Australia’s FAR for acquiring 13.6667 per cent participating interest in exploitation area of Sangomar field and 15 per cent participating interest in remaining contract area of Rufisque, Sangomar Offshore and Sangomar Deep Offshore (RSSD) Block in Senegalese offshore.

The acquisition involves (i) an upfront consideration of $45 million with customary adjustments including the opening working capital as of January 2020 and the cash calls paid or to be paid from January 2020 onwards until completion (excluding any default interest paid / payable by FAR for any delay in cash call payments).
