Apollo Tyres on Wednesday announced its foray into the truck and bus tyre segment in the US and Canada, following the launch of its passenger vehicle range in the two markets.

The commercial vehicle range has been introduced under the Apollo brand although the PV (passenger vehicle) range was launched under the premium European brand, Vredestein last September, the company said in a statement.

GE Power India's board on Wednesday approved the acquisition of 50 per cent stake in NTPC GE Power Services Pvt Ltd for Rs 7.2 crore.

The number of new coronavirus cases in India hit a record daily high with over 200,000 infections being reported in a day, while the active cases surpassed the 14- lakh mark,according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.

With the new cases, the total tally of Covid-19 cases in the country rose to 14,074,564.

To contain the COVID-19 crisis in Mumbai, 4-star and 5-star hotels will be converted into COVID facilities. Initially, two hotels will be converted into Coronavirus facilities from Thursday (April 15).

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said he has tested positive for COVID-19.

He had on Tuesday isolated himself after some officials in his contact tested positive for coronavirus.

After initial symptoms, I got myself tested. My report is positive. I am in self-isolation and following doctors advice. I am doing all the works virtually, Adityanath tweeted from his official Twitter handle.

The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has postponed the examinations of Classes 10 and 12 in view of a spike in COVID-19 cases, an official said on Wednesday.

The exams of the high school, higher secondary and diploma in pre-school education (vocational course) were scheduled to begin from April 30 and May 1.

In view of the shortage of Remdesivir in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed the state health department to acquire 25,000 injections of Remdesivir from Gujarat's Ahmedabad on an urgent basis.
