First official talks between Modi, Joe Biden governments, both reaffirm focus on Indo Pacific

New US defence secretary Lloyd Austin and the Indian defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke on Wednesday, in what is the first official and public contact between the Indian govt and the new Biden administration.

The talks that started around 7.30 pm IST on Wednesday, lasted for around 20 minutes. During the call, which was made from the US side, there was a reaffirmation of the Indo Pacific vision, backed by both Washington and Delhi.

Shares of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) rose 2 per cent to Rs 1,393 on the BSE in intra-day trade on Wednesday after the company reported better-than-expected December quarter numbers. The consolidated net profit during the said quarter stood at Rs 2,467 crore, up nearly 5 per cent from the same period last year. On a consolidated basis, adjusted revenues from continuing operations fell 1.8 per cent YoY to Rs 35,596 crore.
