Shares of Gujarat Gas Company surged 7 per cent to Rs 576.60 on the BSE in intra-day trade on Wednesday after the company reported a strong set of numbers for the quarter ended March (Q4FY21). The stock of the integrated oil & gas firm was trading close to its 52-week high level of Rs 580, touched on April 9, 2021.

In Q4FY21, the company’s revenue increased 28.6 per cent year on year to Rs 3,429 crore as sales volume jumped 22 per cent YoY to 12.1 mmscmd.

Adani Enterprises shares rose 3 per cent, on Wednesday, and hit a new high of Rs 1,461.45 in intra-day trade on the BSE, thus surging 11 per cent in the past two trading days. The flagship company of the Gautam Adani led-Adani Group company has now surpassed its previous high of Rs 1,335, touched in January 2008, before the restructuring of its businesses.

A day after reporting lowest cases since April 8, India witnessed a slight increase in Covid numbers with 1,32,788 new infections reported in 24 hours and 3,207 more people succumbed to the pandemic, the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry said on Wednesday.

On June 1, India reported 1,27,510 cases lowest since April 8. On April 8, India had recorded 1,31,968 cases while on April 7, India witnessed 1,26,789 fresh cases.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Tuesday issued directions on the usage of the new COVID-19 drug 2-DG.

The DRDO said that patients with uncontrolled diabetes, severe cardiac problem, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), severe hepatic and renal impairment should be cautious before taking this medicine. The drug can be given to patients under the care and prescription of doctors, DRDO said.

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), has permitted contributors to withdraw a non-refundable COVID-19 advance from their savings. This is the second time it has allowed such a relief measure due to the ongoing pandemic, the Labour Ministry said in a statement.

Members who have already availed the first COVID-19 advance can now opt for a second advance also.

Bajaj Auto on Tuesday reported 114 per cent growth in its total vehicle sales at 2,71,862 units in May compared to the same month last year.

The company had sold 1,27,128 vehicles in May last year, Bajaj Auto said in a statement.
