Shares of state-owned oil exploration & production companies Oil Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Oil India rallied 5 per cent each on the bourses on higher crude oil prices.

ONGC was up 5 per cent at Rs 130 in the intra-day trade, surpassing its previous high of Rs 128.45 touched on 15 June, 2021. Oil India, meanwhile, hit a fresh 52-week high at Rs 208.80, and has gained 5 per cent on the BSE. In comparison, the S&P BSE Sensex was up mere 0.20 per cent at 58,364 points at 09:49 am.

India produced the largest amount of social media misinformation on COVID-19 due to the country's higher internet penetration rate, increasing social media consumption and users' lack of internet literacy, according to a new study.

The study, 'Prevalence and Source Analysis of COVID-19 Misinformation in 138 Countries', was published in Sage's International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions journal.

Shares of state-owned travel support services company Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) continued at their upward movement as the scrip rallied 9 per cent to hit a new high of Rs 3,746 in intra-day trade on Tuesday.

Tata Steel has commissioned a 5-tonne-per-day (TPD) carbon capture plant at its Jamshedpur Works, making it the country’s first steel company to adopt such a carbon capture technology that extracts carbon-di-oxide directly from blast furnace gas, the company said on Tuesday.

Tata Steel will reuse the captured CO2 on-site to promote the circular carbon economy. The project has been executed with technological support from Carbon Clean, a global leader in low-cost CO2 capture technology.

Amid the decline in COVID-19 cases across the country, the number of coronavirus cases has recording a steady increase among children below 10 years, according to data available with the Empowered Group-1 (EG-1). According to the data, the share of children in the total active Covid-19 cases has jumped from 2.80% in March this year to 7.04% in August. This means that about of every 100 active Covid cases, around seven are of children.
