Uttarakhand govt to provide Rs 3,000/month to children orphaned by Covid

The Uttarakhand Cabinet on Wednesday gave its nod to the Chief Minister Vatsalya Yojana, which aims to help children who lost their parents or the earning member of their family during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the CM Vatsalya Yojana, the government will take responsibility for such children who have lost their parents and will provide assistance of Rs 3,000 per month.

Speaking to ANI, Health Officer Sandhya Rathod said, We have started screening children in the age group of 0-5 years. We have 206 teams of ASHA and Anganwadi workers. They are surveying around 250 houses per day.

At least 11 people died and 18 injured even as the search and rescue operations are going on in the New Collector compound, news agency ANI reported.

Buildings have collapsed due to rain. Rescue operation is underway. Injured people have been shifted to the hospital. Debris of the buildings being removed to see if more people are stuck under it, Maharashtra minister Aslam Shaikh was quoted as saying by the news agency.

The weekly positivity rate is currently at 5.66 per cent while the daily positivity rate stands at 4.66 per cent today. It has remained less than 10 per cent for 16th consecutive days now, the health ministry said.
