Reliance Industries will by 2030 create or enable capacity to generate at least 100 gigawatts of electricity from renewable sources, which can be converted into carbon-free green hydrogen, its chairman Mukesh Ambani said Friday as he outlined a 1-1-1 vision to bring down the cost of hydrogen to under USD 1 per 1 kg in 1 decade.
The focus on generating electricity from renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind -will help cut carbon emissions in the world's third-largest greenhouse gas emitter.

Japan's Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga won't run for governing party leadership election, indicating he will step down as Japanese leader at the end of this month, public broadcaster NHK said.
Suga told executives of his ruling Liberal Democratic Party on Friday that he will not run for leadership race set for Sept. 29, NHK said.

Shares of L&T Technology Services (LTTS) hit a new high of Rs 4,412.80, surging 9 per cent on the BSE in the intra-day trade on Friday, after the management guided for $1.5 billion revenue and 18 per cent earnings before interest tax (Ebit) margins by FY25 on strong demand outlook. In the past three months, the stock has rallied 62 per cent, as compared to a 11 per cent rise in the S&P BSE Sensex.
The revenue guidance includes acquisitions while Ebit margin guidance takes into consideration elevated travel costs, continued investment in tech and manpower and acquisitions.

Ten gram of 24-carat gold is selling at Rs 47,280 on Friday in India, down Rs 100 from the previous trade.
Silver is selling at Rs 63,500 per kg, up by Rs 500 from yesterday's trading price, according to Good Returns website.
The price of gold jewellery varies across India, the second-largest consumer of the metal, due to excise duty, state taxes, and making charges.

With reports of new mutations and rising variants of interest of coronavirus, the health ministry has added seven more countries to the list of nations where travellers have to take an RT-PCR test upon arrival in India. These countries include South Africa, Bangladesh, Botswana, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Mauritius and China.
Earlier as part of the guidelines for international travel, UK, Europe and West Asia were on the list, where passengers had to board with a negative RT-PCR report and get tested upon arrival.

Following the untimely demise of actor Sidharth Shukla (40), social media was on Thursday flooded with condolence messages shared by the 'Bigg Boss 13' winner's friends, co-stars and members of the film and TV fraternity. Sidharth Shukla's death left everyone in a state of grief and shock. As per several reports, Sidharth died of a heart attack.
As per a report in the Times of India, Sidharth Shukla complained of chest pain and expressed uneasiness to his mother at around 3 am on Thursday.

Indian athlete Praveen Kumar (Sport Class T44) on Friday clinched a silver medal in the men's high jump T64 final in the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics. Praveen registered scores of 1.88m, 1.93m and 2.01m before creating the Asian Record as he leapt the mark of 2.07m in the finals.
Praveen cleared his first mark of 1.88m on his first attempt and was tied at the top after his opening jump before Jonathan Broom-Edwards of Great Britain toppled him. The Indian athlete then cleared the 1.93m mark in his next attempt to occupy the third spot.

Benchmark indices logged fresh all-time highs on Thursday amid positive sentiment across the global markets on hopes the US Federal Reserve would maintain its easy monetary stance amid not so encouraging signs of economic recovery.
The BSE Sensex rose 514 points, or 0.9 per cent, to end at 57,852, while the Nifty rose 158 points, or 0.92 per cent, to finish at 17,234. Both indices added nearly 9 per cent each in August, their best monthly showing since November.

HDFC Life Ltd will acquire Exide Industries Ltd's (EIL) entire stake in Exide Life Insurance Company for Rs 6,887 crore.
In a filing with BSE, EIL said its board has approved the divestment of the company's entire equity shareholding in Exide Life, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, by way of sale to HDFC Life. The deal is subject to the approval of its shareholders.
