India's largest airline IndiGo expects Tata Sons to be formidable competition once the conglomerate finalises its $2.4 billion purchase of Air India from the government, the budget airline's chief executive said.

Tata also owns a majority stake in Vistara, a premium joint venture with Singapore Airlines Ltd, as well as budget airline AirAsia India.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has sought permission from the Chief Judicial Magistrate court of Prayagraj to conduct a polygraph test (lie detector test) on the three accused in the alleged suicide case of Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) President Mahant Narendra Giri.

Indian oil-to-telecoms conglomerate Reliance Industries Ltd said on Tuesday its solar unit Reliance New Energy Solar Ltd (RNESL) will buy preferred shares of German firm NexWafe worth 25 million euros ($28.82 million).

RNESL agreed to buy 86,887 series C preferred shares of NexWafe at 287.733 euros per share, Reliance said, adding that RNESL would also be issued 36,201 warrants exercisable for one euro per warrant, subject to achievement of agreed milestones.

India reported 14,313 new COVID-19 cases and 181 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry Informed on Tuesday.

Of these, Kerala reported 6,996 COVID-19 cases and 84 deaths in the last 24 hours.

According to the ministry, the cumulative COVID cases in the country stand at 3,39,85,920, while 4,50,963 people have succumbed to the infection so far.
