The Air Quality Index of Delhi continued to remain in the 'severe' category, informed the Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research on Saturday (November 6).

As per SAFAR's analysis at 6 am today, Delhi's overall air quality was found to be in the 'severe' category with the overall AQI standing at 533.

US pharmaceuticals company Pfizer has come out with an antiviral COVID-19 pill Paxlovid that cuts the risk of hospitalisation or death by 89% in vulnerable adults, clinical trial results suggest. The drug is intended for use soon after COVID-19 symptoms develop in people at high risk of severe disease.

Pfizer's Paxlovid pill could get approval from the US regulator by the end of the year. The company says it plans to submit interim trial results to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before November 25.

West Bengal on Friday recorded 763 fresh Covid-19 cases, 155 less than the previous day's figure, while the number of fresh fatalities also dropped marginally from 14 on November 4 to 13, according to a health department bulletin.

The state's Covid-19 death toll went up to 19,201 with 13 fatalities while 763 new cases pushed the tally to 15,97,095.

The Meghalaya Cabinet on Friday approved a proposal to upgrade the Mairang civil sub-division to a full-fledged district.

It will be called Eastern West Khasi Hills district, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said.

Mairang is now a sub-division under West Khasi Hills district.

Cyber security firm McAfee Corp is nearing a deal to sell itself to US private equity firm Advent International for more than $10 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
