As several states have started reopening their schools and resuming physical classes, many students and teachers have been relieved, hopeful that they will make up for the academic loss caused during the online classes. But, reopening schools comes with its drawbacks.
After the reopening of schools in Tamil Nadu from September 1, over 10 teachers and 20 students have been tested positive for COVID-19. The most recent COVID cases in Tamil Nadu have been reported from a private school in Chennai, as per reports.

India on Tuesday crossed the 700-million mark for total doses administered in the country. More than 76 per cent of the doses given so far were first shots, while the remaining 24 per cent were second doses. The last 100 million of these were given in just 13 days, the fastest so far, said the Union health ministry on Tuesday.
While almost 7 million doses were administered on Tuesday, according to provisional data on the CoWIN dashboard, India had given 11.3 million doses on Monday, crossing the 10-million mark for the third time in the last eleven days.

Shares of Vodafone Idea soared 11 per cent to Rs 8.04 on the BSE in intra-day trade on Tuesday amid heavy volumes in an otherwise subdued market. At 10:40 am, the stock of the telecom services operator was up 8 per cent, as compared to a 0.29 per cent decline in the S&P BSE Sensex. A combined 491 million equity shares had changed hands on the counter in the first one-and-half hour of trading on the NSE and BSE.

Shares of Ujjivan Financial Services (UFSL) hit a 52-week low of Rs 137.70 as they tanked 10 per cent on the BSE in intra-day trade on Tuesday. In the past one month, the stock of the non-banking finance company (NBFC) has slipped 38 per cent after the exit of multiple board members and management executives at Ujjivan Small Finance Bank (USFB).
UFSL is a non-operating holding company (holdco) with sole 83.32 per cent ownership of USFB and it does not have any other business interest. At the standalone level, the income streams of UFSL include dividend income from investments held in its subsidiary, UFSB and interest earned on fixed deposits invested with various banks.
