India records 10,229 new Covid infections; active cases decline to 1,34,096

India's Covid tally rose to 3,44,47,536 with 10,229 more people testing positive for coronavirus, while the active cases have declined to 1,34,096, the lowest in 523 days, according to the Union Health Ministry's data updated on Monday.

The death toll reached 4,63,655 after 125 new fatalities were reported, the data updated at 8 am showed.

Sigachi Industries (SIL) made a stellar stock market debut - its shares got listed at Rs 575, a 253 per cent premium over its issue price of Rs 163 per share on the BSE. On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the stock opened at Rs 570, a 250 per cent higher against its issue price.

At 10:09 am; the stock was locked at the maximum 5 per cent upper circuit at Rs 603.75, a 270 per cent gain over its issue price. While, on the NSE, the stock was frozen at Rs 598.50, a 267 per cent higher against its issue price.

PB Fintech, the parent company of Policybazaar, made a good stock market debut, with shares listed at Rs 1,150, a 17 per cent premium over its issue price of Rs 980 per share on the BSE. Post listing, the stock moved higher to Rs 1,194.95, a 22 per cent premium to its issue price.

At 10:02 am; PB Fintech was trading at Rs 1,185, up 3 per cent from its opening level on the BSE. In comparison, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 0.40 per cent at 60,928. Around 468,000 equity shares changed hands at the counter on the NSE and BSE.

The company reported profit before tax (before exceptional items) of Rs 139.2 crore for the quarter ended September, compared to Rs 65.4 crore in the year-ago period.

In its latest update on Monday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload, death toll and the total number number of vaccine doses administered stood at 253,291,318, 5,100,151 and 7,464,233,665, respectively.
