India logs 9,119 fresh coronavirus cases, 396 more deaths in 24 hours

India reported 9,119 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

Also, as many as 396 fatalities were registered pushing the toll to 4,66,980, it said.

The recovery of 10,264 patients during the same period has increased the cumulative tally to 3,39,67,962. Consequently, the recovery rate stands at 98.33 per cent, highest since March 2020.

Shares of Reliance Industries (RIL) were up 3.4 per cent at Rs 2,431.80 on the BSE in Thursday’s intra-day trade after the company’s board decided to implement a scheme of arrangement to transfer gasification undertaking into a wholly-owned subsidiary (WOS). RIL made the announcements on Wednesday after market hours.

The board has approved a scheme as a going concern on slump sale basis for a lump sum consideration equal to the carrying value as on the appointed date i.e. March 31, 2022.

The stock was trading at its lowest level since May 17, 2021. It had hit a 52-week high of Rs 1,241.85 on October 28, 2021.

Shares of Siemens dipped 8 per cent to Rs 2,099 on the BSE in Thursday’s intra-day trade on profit booking after the company reported 250 basis points (bps) decline in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (ebitda) margin of 10.4 per cent in September quarter (Q4FY21) as against 12.9 per cent in Q4FY20 impacted by higher other expenses, gross margins.

The company has recommended a dividend of Rs 8 per equity share of Rs 2 each (400 per cent) for the Financial Year ended September 30, 2021.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Wednesday said it has entered into a pact with the Tamil Nadu government to establish a data centre in the state.

L&T will establish 90 MW capacity data centres and associated units in a phased manner in Kanchipuram over the next five years. The company envisages to employ around 1,100 people -- 600 direct and 500 indirect -- in the project.
