State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest lender, on Saturday launched CHAKRA — a Centre of Excellence for financing sunrise sectors including renewable energy, advanced cell chemistry and battery storage, electric mobility, green hydrogen, semiconductors, decarbonisation, smart infrastructure, and data centre infrastructure. These sectors are critical to India’s economic transformation, with their combined potential estimated at around ₹100 trillion over the next five years.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and and Nationalist Congress Party Chief Ajit Pawar, 66, died after his aircraft crashed at 8:45 am on Wednesday while attempting to land at the Baramati airport, according to PTI. Three others on board are also confirmed dead, according to the report.

Pawar was headed to Baramati to attend a public rally for the Zilla Parishad Elections.

The European Union will open its first Legal Gateway Office in India to provide a single access point for Indian workers, students and researchers seeking authorised routes to EU member states, as India and the EU advance negotiations on a long-pending free trade agreement. The move was announced by President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday at the conclusion of the India-EU FTA talks in New Delhi.
