Yahoo to lay off more than 20% of staff to restructure its ad tech division

Yahoo said on Thursday it plans to lay off more than 20% of its total workforce as part of a major restructuring of its ad tech division.

The cuts will impact nearly 50% of Yahoo's ad tech employees by the end of this year, including nearly 1,000 employees this week, the company said.

Yahoo, which is owned by private equity firm Apollo Global Management since a $5 billion buyout in 2021.

A unit of Adani Wilmar in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh was raided by the Himachal Pradesh State Excise Department, according to a report by the Indian Express (IE). The officials inspected a carrying and forward unit of the company.

The company had failed to deposit Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection for 'several years' and this reportedly led to the inspection. According to IE, the officials checked the company's accounts and goods. A report will be prepared and future action will be decided based on it.

Thums Up recently crossed $1 billion in sales in India, and Maaza is expected to achieve the milestone by 2024.

"What we are doing on global platforms is looking at possibilities to import or export brands to the rest of the world," Braun told ET. He added that the company is being very "open-minded" about two other India-created flavours, Maaza Aam Panna and Fanta Apple Delite and an idea that can "fly" in India can work in foreign markets as well.
