Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu on Saturday hailed the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) for conducting a "transparent and professional" investigation into the Air India flight AI171 crash.
The Air India Boeing 787-8 aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, resulting in the deaths of 260 individuals, including 229 passengers, 12 crew members, and 19 people on the ground.

Apple supplier Foxconn Technology Group has begun importing key components from China to India for the assembly of the upcoming iPhone 17, The Economic Times reported. These imports, which include essential parts like display assemblies, cover glass, mechanical housings, and integrated rear camera modules, are likely intended for trial production, as their volume is significantly smaller compared to shipments for older models, the news report said.

The Air India jetliner that crashed on June 12 almost immediately after taking off plummeted back to the ground because fuel supply was cut off to both engines and the pilots failed to regain thrust in time to avert the catastrophe, a preliminary report found.
The findings, issued a month after the accident that killed 241 occupants of the Boeing Co. 787 Dreamliner and 19 people on the ground, laid out the fateful final seconds before the plane plunged into a densely populated district in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday disbursed the first instalment of the hiked pension amount of Rs 1,100 per month to the bank accounts of 11.1 million beneficiaries, including senior citizens, widows and people with disabilities.
Over Rs 1,227 crore was credited under six different pension schemes during a function here, officials said.

The Telangana government on Thursday moved to implement 42 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in local body elections, fulfilling a key poll promise made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. State Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the chief minister has directed officials to immediately begin the groundwork for implementation.

iPhone maker Apple has alternatives to handle issues related to the return of Chinese professionals from Foxconn's India plant, the Centre said, adding that it is monitoring production targets at the Foxconn plant, news agency PTI reported.
Citing sources, the report stated that hundreds of Chinese technology professionals, working at Foxconn's India plant, facilitating and managing the production, have returned to China, triggering speculations that the production of the upcoming iPhone 17 series may be hampered.

Billionaire Gautam Adani said on Friday his family will invest Rs 60,000 crore in healthcare, proclaiming the sector needs “entrepreneurial revolution” and that “evolution” was not enough.

Electric vehicle major Tesla will open its first store in India on July 15 in Mumbai, marking the company’s official entry into the country’s automotive retail space. The Mumbai outlet, located in the financial capital, will function as an “experience centre”, the company said on Friday.
The Elon Musk-led company had secured a lease for the Mumbai location in March as part of its entry into the Indian market.

US President Donald Trump on Thursday (local time) said he plans to make a “major statement” on Russia, adding that he expects the US Senate to pass a tougher sanctions bill against Russia, sponsored by a close ally, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday (local time) announced a 50 per cent tariff on all copper imports, marking his fourth major tariff hike during his second term. Trump also signalled a more severe move on the pharmaceutical sector, threatening a 200 per cent tariff on drug imports after a transition period of one to one-and-a-half years.
“Today we’re doing copper,” Trump said during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, without offering a timeline for when the new tariff will come into effect.
