Apparel exporters in Tiruppur, Noida, to shut down for 10-15 days a month

Apparel exporters in Tiruppur and Noida have opted to close their manufacturing operations for 10-15 days every month to save operational costs amid a shortage of overseas orders, a report by The Economic Times (ET) said.

However, the apparel exporting units have not yet decided to lay off any employees, executives told ET.

"We also discussed player safety, which is very important for us," Ganguly said. "The committee decided that it was best to make the use of helmets mandatory in certain positions to ensure the safety of players."

Out of all the reported digital payment frauds in India, over half (55 per cent) were United Payments Interface (UPI)-related, a new report released on Tuesday revealed. Another 18 per cent are card related, 12 per cent are related to internet banking and nine per cent are from phishing calls.

Most of the UPI-related frauds, however, have a low ticket size. According to "The Anatomy of Fraud 2023" report by digital solutions platform Bureau and consultancy firm Praxis, 50 per cent of these have an average ticket size of less than Rs 10,000.

The S&P BSE Midcap index hit a 52-week high of 26,567.21 in Tuesday's intra-day trade, on the back of strong earnings and renewed buying by foreign portfolio investors (FPIs). The index surpassed its previous high of 26,440.81, touched on December 12, 2022. It had hit an all-time high of 27,246.34 on October 19, 2021.

Thus far in the calendar year 2023, the midcap index has rallied 4.3 per cent, as against 2.6 per cent surge in Smallcap and 1.8 per cent rise in the Sensex.
