As part of a broader strategy to service large orders, food delivery major Zomato aims to venture into the catering business by employing its existing network of restaurant partners, according to a report by The Economic Times (ET).
Rakesh Ranjan, chief executive for food delivery, was quoted as saying that despite concerns about the potential impact on profitability, Zomato is also looking to add more offerings to its loyalty programme, Gold.

Students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will face a penalty of Rs 20,000 if they are found protesting or resorting to violence around the home of members of the institution or within a 100-metre radius of any academic and administrative buildings.
The directive is part of a chief proctor office manual that listed the “rules of discipline and proper conduct of students of Jawaharlal Nehru University” and was approved by the Executive Council of the university on November 24.

Hindalco Industries on Tuesday announced that it is investing Rs 800 crore to set up a 25,000-tonne battery foil facility in Odisha near Sambalpur. The plant, which will produce fine-quality aluminium foil that is used in rechargeable batteries, will be commissioned by July 2025.
In an announcement, the company said that it has already achieved the technology breakthrough of manufacturing battery foils at its Mouda unit in Maharashtra.

BBC World Service India is undergoing a shareholding restructuring, with the British Broadcasting Corp (BBC) aiming to comply with the Indian government's foreign direct investment (FDI) guidelines, according to a report by The Economic Times (ET). The FDI norms limit foreign holdings in digital news entities to 26 per cent, prompting BBC World Service India to explore options for adhering to these regulations as currently 99.99 per cent owned by the BBC.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) had capped FDI in digital news at 26 per cent in September 2019.

The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board issued certain directions to Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) to identify hotspots in Buckingham Canal, Ennore Creek and adjoining areas where the oil deposits or oil slicks are stagnated and take necessary remedial measures on war footing basis.
It has also asked CPCL to ensure that all pipelines (raw materials and products) and tanks are intact with no leakage.

The air quality in several parts of Delhi continued to remain in the 'very poor' category on Monday, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The AQI was recorded in the 'very poor' range, at 346, in the RK Puram area at 8 a.m. on Monday, according to the CPCB.
The AQI in Anand Vihar stood at 310 at 8 am, according to CPCB data. According to CPCB, the AQI at ITO was also recorded in the 'Very Poor' range at 328 in the morning.

Shares of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) were locked at the 20 per cent upper circuit at Rs 85.02 on the BSE on Monday at 11:21 AM, on the back of heavy volumes with only buyers seen on the counter. In past two trading days, the stock of state-owned financial institution company has rallied 32 per cent.
The counter has seen huge trading volumes today with a combined 210.51 million equity shares changing hands. There are pending buy orders for a combined 18.31 million equity shares on the NSE and BSE.

The Supreme Court (SC) of Monday unanimously upheld the Centre's abrogation of Article 370, stating that the article was a temporary provision and the state of Jammu & Kashmir did not retain any element of sovereignty after its accession to India in 1948. It said that Article 370 was a feature of asymmetric federalism.
However, the court said that the Centre has amended the laws in J&K beyond its power. It directed the Election Commission (EC) to hold polls in J&K by September 30, 2024.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has announced Rs 6,000 in aid to people affected by Cyclone Michaung. The amount will be paid in cash. Chennai and its nearby districts of Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur districts received heavy rainfall leading to floods and damage to life and properties, as a result of the cyclone.
Corporate bodies also have extended aid to the state. TVS Motor Company, India’s third-largest two-wheeler company, donated Rs 3 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
