Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was among those who died in Thursday’s Air India crash in Ahmedabad.

According to media reports, Rupani considered the number 1206 lucky for him. His cars and scooters often bore the same number. Locals associated the number with him—recognising his presence from the plate alone, PTI reported, citing residents.

The Ahmedabad bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has admitted Gensol Engineering Limited to Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) on a petition filed by the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (Ireda), according to a report from Bar and Bench.

Facing a financial crunch due to its welfare schemes, the Maharashtra government has decided to raise excise duty on Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and country liquor, aiming to bolster its revenue stream.

According to news agency PTI, the state Cabinet has approved an increase in the excise duty on IMFL, raising it from three times to 4.5 times the declared manufacturing cost, up to ₹260 per bulk litre.
