Tata Motors on Thursday reported a net profit of Rs 3,764 crore in the quarter that ended on September 30, as compared to the loss of Rs 944.61 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The net profit was up 17.5 per cent from Rs 3,202.80 crore in the previous quarter.

The company's total revenue from operations was Rs 1.05 trillion, up 32 per cent from Rs 79,611.37 crore in the same quarter last year. The total revenue was also up from Rs 1.02 trillion in the previous quarter.

Kotak Mahindra Bank on Thursday announced that Zurich Insurance Company Ltd will acquire a 51 per cent stake in the Kotak Mahindra General Insurance Company Ltd for Rs 4,051 crore. Further, within three years from the initial acquisition, Zurich will buy an additional 19 per cent stake in the company.

"Zurich's investment represents the single largest investment by a global strategic insurer in an Indian non-life insurer," the company said. The transaction of a 51 per cent stake is expected to be completed by June 30, 2024.

Shares of JK Tyre & Industries rallied 14 per cent to a new all-time high of Rs 351.05 on the BSE in Thursday’s early trade.

In October, Car manufacturers are expected to have broken all previous records of dispatches to dealers amid strong customer demand. According to The Economic Times, carmakers are likely to have shipped 380,000 to 385,000 cars in October.

This number is more than the previous record of 362,000 dispatches in September, according to industry estimates. If these sales turn out to be true, it will translate into a growth of 13.5-14.5 per cent from the previous year, which is the highest monthly increase in more than a year, the ET report said.
