A day after exit polls suggested a landslide win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Lok Sabha elections, the saffron party is planning a big ‘political’ event at Bharat Mandapam or Kartavya Path to celebrate the Lok Sabha election 2024 results.

The event, themed around India’s cultural heritage, may include a sound-and-light show and is expected to host 8,000-10,000 attendees, including foreign government representatives, according to a report by The Indian Express.

Nifty Bank hits record high:Nifty Bank index soared as much as 4.09 percent to hit an all time high of 50,990 on Monday. However, the index is now trading off highs.

The BJP on Sunday returned to power in Arunachal Pradesh for the third time in a row, as the party won 46 seats in the 60-member assembly and secured a majority, Election Commission officials said.

Votes were counted for 50 assembly segments for which elections were held in the northeastern state along with Lok Sabha polls on April 19. The rest 10 seats were won by the saffron party uncontested.

An IndiGo flight operating from Chennai to Mumbai with 172 persons on board landed in full emergency conditions here on Saturday after it received a bomb threat, sources have said.

In a first, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday cancelled the auction of 10-year green bonds as traders refused to pay greenium, said dealers. Greenium signifies the premium investors are willing to pay for green bonds because of their sustainability impact.

Diverging from the pattern of issuing green bonds in the latter half, the government plans to issue green bonds worth Rs 12,000 crore in the first half of the current financial year. The green bonds were planned to be issued in two tranches of Rs 6,000 crore each for a period of 10 years.

Jet fuel or ATF price on Saturday was reduced by a steep 6.5 per cent and that of commercial LPG used by hotels and restaurants by Rs 69 per 19-kg cylinder on declining international oil prices.

Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) price was cut by Rs 6,673.87 per kilolitre, or 6.5 per cent, to Rs 94,969.01 per kl in the national capital, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.

The Indian government has cut the windfall tax on petroleum crude to Rs 5,200 ($62.33) per metric tonne from Rs 5,700, effective on June 1, according to a notification issued on Friday.

The tax, which is revised every fortnight, remains unchanged at zero for diesel and aviation turbine fuel.
