The Rs 70,000-crore ambitious Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) on Wednesday was handed over the allotment letter for the development of commercial tower for the members of BSE Brokers’ Forum. Gujarat finance minister Saurabh Patel handed over the letter to BSE Brokers’ Forum vice-chairman Alok Churiwala.

India successfully launched IRNSS 1C on board ISRO's PSLV C26 rocket from the spaceport here at 1.32 am on Thursday, moving a step closer to setting up the country's own navigation system on par with Global Positioning System (GPS) of the US.

IRNSS 1C is the third of the series of seven satellites ISRO is planing to launch to put in place what is called the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System.

Tata Motors gained over 2% at Rs 498 on the Bombay Stock Exchange after the automaker received an order to supply 928 Tata Marcopolo built buses to the State Transport Authorities in South India.

The order comprises 487 units bagged from Karnataka (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation), 40 units from Puducherry (Pondicherry Road Transport Corporation), 97 from Kerala (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation) and 304 from North East Karnataka region (North Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation), Tata Motors said in a press release.

Commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland is planning to start manufacturing and marketing its electric and hybrid buses in India from next year, in line with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Make in India campaign.

Speaking to the reporters during the visit of Vince Cable MP, UK Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, to the company headquarters, Vinod Dasari, managing director of Ashok Leyland, said that Optare, the company's arm in UK, has been leading the electric and hybrid vehicle manufacturers there and its intention is to bring the Optare products to India.

MUMBAI: The rupee gained 13 paise to 60.97 against the dollar in early trade on Tuesday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on increased selling of the US currency amid a higher opening in the domestic equity market.

Besides, dollar's weakness against other currencies overseas also supported the rupee, forex dealers said.

Mumbai, Oct. 14: Reliance Industries (RIL) has said it will make a final investment decision on producing gas from the R-Cluster discovery in the KG-D6 block only after the Union government takes a call on raising gas prices.

RIL and its partners BP plc of the UK and Canada’s Niko Resources plan to produce about 13 million standard cubic metres per day (mmscmd) of gas for 13 years from the D-34 discovery, known as R-Cluster, in the KG-D6 block by 2017-18.

Indirect tax collections inched up by 5.8 per cent in the April-September period of this fiscal.

Indirect tax collections, comprising excise, customs and service tax, stood at Rs.2.42 lakh crore in the first six months of 2014-15 as against Rs.2.29 lakh crore in the corresponding period a year ago, the Finance Ministry said in a statement.
