A consistent rise in profitability and sales has made Eicher Motors, a niche player in the two-wheeler market, a more valuable company than Hero MotoCorp, the market leader which sells 15 times more units.

The market cap of Eicher Motors today touched at an all time high of Rs 50,709 crore while Hero trailed at Rs 50,355 crore. On the first day of the calendar year 2015, Hero commanded a market cap of Rs 62,053 crore, 33 per cent higher than Eicher. Bajaj Auto remains most valued two-wheeler company at Rs 63,021 crore. TVS Motor retains the fourth spot at Rs 10,518 crore.

Market regulator, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has passed an order providing exit to the 78-year old Madras Stock Exchange Limited (MSE). The exchange will be 14th Stock Exchange to exit under SEBI's exit policy, which came into effect in May 2012.

The policy mandated Regional Stock Exchange (RSEs) a minimum net-worth of Rs 100 crore and an annual trading of Rs 1,000 crore and gave two years to comply or exit the business.

The Department of Telecom (DoT) has issued a letter to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) asking them to block the URLs of four websites including Uber, Olacabs, TaxiForSure and angelbroking.com without citing any reason for the move.

DoT ordered blocking the websites under the powers conferred to it by Section 69A of Information Technology Act, 2000 and Information Technology (Procedures and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules, 2009. The notice further says that in case the ISPs fail to block the sites, the government will initiate action against them under Section 12 of the IT Act, as reported by ET.

New Delhi: As part of the National Democratic Alliance government’s green energy push, state-owned NTPC Ltd will call for bids from solar project developers for buying 15,000 megawatts (MW) on behalf of the ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE).

This is in addition to NTPC’s plans to set up 10,000 MW of solar power capacity on its own.

In a volatile trade, the benchmark BSE Sensex today recovered part of its overnight losses and was trading higher by 32 points at 27,238.01 in late morning deals following a slowdown in selling by foreign funds amid short-covering.
