Shares of Brigade Enterprises (BEL) rallied 13 per cent to hit a new high of Rs 983.65 on the BSE in Thursday’s intra-day trade on a healthy business outlook.

Since November, the stock of the real estate company has zoomed 60 per cent as it had reported a strong operational performance for the September quarter (Q2FY24).

Glenmark cuts diabetes drug cost by 70% with first Indian biosimilar launch

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals on Wednesday launched the first biosimilar of popular anti-diabetic drug Liraglutide in India to lower the cost of therapy by about 70 per cent. The drug, marketed under the brand name Lirafit, has received approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI). It is priced at approximately Rs 100 for a standard daily dose of 1.2 mg. This pricing strategy aims to make the drug accessible to patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the country, Glenmark said.

Shares of Torrent Power surged 13.5 per cent on the BSE to a fresh high of Rs 1,071.6 in Thursday’s intra-day trade after the company signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) for projects worth Rs 47,350 crore with the Gujarat government.

In the past two months, the stock has outperformed the market by surging 38 per cent. Its previous record high of Rs 1,045.35 was touched on December 7, 2023.

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) demanded the withdrawal of mandatory linkages to an Aadhar-based payment system from the Central Government.

CPI(M) in a statement said that the latest expression of the Modi government's active hostility towards the demand-based rural work guarantee law--the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) is the imposition of an Aadhar-based payment system (ABPS) the deadline of which expired on December 31, snatching away the right to crores of workers.

Reserve Bank of India seeks to lower NNPA of banks for paying dividends

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday proposed to tighten norms for dividend declaration by banks as it lowered the net non-performing asset (NPA) ratio for a lender to be eligible for paying dividends.

In a draft circular released on Tuesday, the RBI said it would not entertain any ad hoc dispensation on the declaration of dividends. Feedback on the draft circular can be submitted by January 31. The RBI proposed the new norms for declaration of dividend for FY25 and onwards.
