Spurred by a string of IT-driven passenger-friendly initiatives, Indian Railways is driving IRCTC to set up an ambitious agenda to emerge as an efficient, single window solution for e-ticketing, catering, tourism and online shopping.

Indian Railways says this includes everything from improving the capacity of portal based ticket booking to expanding the operations of e-catering.

Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corp on Wednesday lifted its annual net profit forecast by 14 percent, citing better-than-expected earnings in India and windfalls from the sale of its stake in Volkswagen AG.

Japan’s fourth-largest automaker said it now expects a net profit of 125 billion yen ($1.03 billion) for the year to March 31, 2016, up from its previous forecast of 110 billion yen.

Mumbai: Solar power tariff in India touched an all-time low of Rs.4.63 per KWh after a huge number of domestic and multinational companies bid aggressively for the 500 megawatt (MW) of capacity offered under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.

“SunEdison quoted tariff of Rs.4.63 per KWh,” Tarun Kapoor, joint secretary at India’s ministry of new and renewable Energy, says in mobile-phone text message, reported Bloomberg.

Global WiFi – first mobile virtual network operator, Sabse Technologies has raised funding from Ratan Tata. The financial details of the deal has not yet been disclosed by the company. The company aims to utilise the raised funding to expand its WiFi first cellular service to consumers worldwide.

Founded by Hotmail Co-founder Sabeer Bhatia and Yogesh Patel in 2008, Sabse operates communications cloud platform named Sabsebolo for SMEs. Its cloud communication platform also enable developers to develop voice and text applications. The company offers cloud telephony, video conferencing and desktop sharing platform for small and mid sized enterprises.

The rupee appreciated by 11 paise to 65.53 against the dollar in early trade on Wednesday on selling of the American currency by exporters and banks.

Forex dealers said domestic equity markets opening with gains too supported the rupee, but dollar's strength against other currencies overseas capped the gains.

The BSE Sensex climbed over 207 points to trade at 26,797.79 and the NSE Nifty recaptured the 8,100-mark in early trade on Wednesday, with increased buying by participants leading to across-the-board gains amid positive Asian cues. However, at 1044 hours, the index was down to 26,698.40, 107.81 points up or 0.41% higher, as all sectoral indices, led by auto, realty and metal, were trading in the positive zone with gains of up to 1.36%. The gauge had gained 31.44 points in the previous choppy session.

South Korean carmaker Hyundai Motor Co confirmed on Wednesday it will launch a new global luxury car brand called Genesis, targeting higher profit margins to help it reverse out of an earnings slide.

Hyundai, which rose to prominence on a reputation for reliable, affordable cars, said the Genesis brand's lineup will start with two sedans this year, growing to six by 2020.
