Apollo Hospitals subsidiary sells 29% to World Bank's arm IFC

NEW DELHI: Apollo HospitalsBSE 1.77 % today said its clinics subsidiary Apollo Health and Lifestyle has raised Rs 450 crore by selling 29 per cent equity stake to World Bank's arm IFC, to fund its growth plans.

Apollo Health and Lifestyle Ltd (AHLL) has received "investments of Rs 450 crore from International Finance Corporation (IFC) and IFC Asset Management Company. The investment will fuel AHLL's expansion plans", Apollo Hospitals Enterprise said in a BSE filing.

NEW DELHI: Diversified group ITCBSE 0.19 % will set up an integrated consumer goods facility and a five star hotel in Odisha at an investment of Rs 800 crore.

The integrated consumer goods manufacturing facility is being built on an area of 700,000 sq ft at Khordha district in Odisha. The firm will roll out ITC's food brands like Aashirvaad, Bingo, Sunfeast, YiPPee! from the unit, a company statement said.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has extended its concession scheme 'NSE MORE' in the transaction charges for the currency derivative segment till December 31.

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai) has allowed insurers to be part of the Joint Lenders’ Forum (JLF), formed under Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines for loan accounts that could turn non-performing assets (NPAs).

“Through this mechanism, insurers may take need-based exposure with the prior approval of the insurer's board which may be in excess of exposures permitted under extant Irdai Investment Regulations,” said the circular that has been sent to insurers.

Wipro has sold off energy services business EcoEnergy to the Indian arm of United Technologies Corporation for an estimated Rs 465 crore as part of its strategy to exit noncore businesses.

Wipro said it was a strategic decision to divest from the energy business as the software major would focus on core IT services business. Both the companies signed a pact on Wednesday. In last financial year, EcoEnergy contributed nearly Rs 67.6 crore to the company’s overall revenue and its net worth was Rs 15.6 crore.

Mumbai: The Indian rupee on Wednesday closed at a one week high against the US dollar after domestic equity markets gained for the fourth consecutive session. This was the second consecutive sessions when the rupee closed higher.

The rupee closed at 68.39 a dollar—a level last seen on 22 November, up 0.39% from its previous close of 68.66. The home currency opened at 68.68 against the US dollar and touched a high of 68.37 a dollar during intraday trading. So far this year, it has fallen 3.27%.
