Ashok Leyland, Hino ink pact to develop BS-VI engines

Hinduja flagship firm Ashok Leyland on Monday said it has inked a pact with its long-standing Japanese partner Hino to jointly develop BS-VI compliant engines.

The companies have entered into a mutual cooperation agreement (MCA) where Ashok Leyland will utilise Hino's engine technology for Euro-VI development and will support Hinos engine parts' purchasing in India for global operation, the Chennai-based firm said in a statement.

The Supreme Court on Monday said it would hear a batch of petitions challenging mandatory linking of Aadhaar for granting various services to citizen after its constitution bench concludes hearing the Delhi-Centre dispute.

The Centre, meanwhile, informed the bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra that it was willing to extend up to March 31 next year the deadline fixed for mandatory linking of Aadhaar with various schemes.

Shillong: HDFC Bank has increased its corporate social responsibility (CSR) spending by 47% in the past two years. The bank's spending on CSR has gone up from Rs 248 crore in FY16 to Rs 305 crore in FY17 and is expected to touch Rs 365 crore this fiscal.

HDFC Bank aims to improve the lives of people in 1,000 villages by March 2019 through its CSR activities, said deputy MD Paresh Sukthankar, while speaking to reporters at the bank's Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP) at Umpathaw, a hamlet 60km from Shillong.

Reliance Marcellus II LLC, a subsidiary of Reliance Holding USA, and RIL have closed the stake sale in the Marcellus shale gas asset operated by Carrizo Oil and Gas, RIL said in a statement on Friday.

Biotec will start clinical trials on humans by early 2018, a spokesperson said, adding that it has received permission to conduct phase I/II trials from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).
