The Reserve Bank has proposed delegating to clients the decisions regarding the quality and tenor on hedging of commodity prices and freight risk. In its draft directions on the subject, the RBI has also proposed introducing the facility for hedging of indirect price risk for selected metals. Hedging refers to activity undertaken to reduce an identifiable and measurable risk. “Eligible entities having exposure to commodity price risk for any eligible commodity may hedge such exposure in overseas markets using any of the permitted instruments,” the draft said.

Largest private sector lender ICICI Bank today virtually acknowledged the presence of a malware in its mobile banking application, but underplayed its impact on its customers. “Whatever we have seen, the malware seems to be not very significant,” bank’s chief technology and digital officer B Madhivanan told reporters over a conference call. The admission comes days after Quickheal, a Pune-based cyber security firm, had warned lenders of the presence of a malware in the mobile banking apps running on the popular operating system, Android.

Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) has emerged as the lowest bidder for a project tendered by NTPC related to flue gas de-sulphurisation (FGD) works for its 1,500 MW (3 x 500 MW) power plant in Jhajjar, Haryana. According to sources, RInfra is the lowest bidder with the order value of the project being expected to be around Rs 567 crore. A spokesperson for RInfra declined to comment on the development, saying the company has lodged bids for EPC projects across various sub-segments within the infrastructure domain.

Keen on mobilising funds to accelerate the pace of highway construction, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will tap the capital market in early FY19 through a few subsidiaries that would be created. Being an authority, it cannot have an initial public offer (IPO) on its own.

“We are now thinking of forming subsidiaries. The process might start early in the next financial year,” NHAI chairman Deepak Kumar told FE.
