The committee of creditors (CoC) to insolvent Essar Steel argued before the bench here of the National Company Law Tribunal that the offer made by the company's promoters, the Ruias, was "not maintainable" and wanted it dismissed. Their counsel, Ravi Kadam, also requested day-to-day hearing of the matter. The case was deferred to December 10, as one of two on the bench was on leave.

The Madras High Court granted anticipatory bail to TVS Motor Chairman Venu Srinivasan on Wednesday in connection with the alleged idol theft case in Tamil Nadu.

Srinivasan's name was mentioned in a first information report (FIR) by the local police. The case was then transferred to the Idol Wing of the Crime Branch-Central Investigation Department. The FIR accused him of replacing a century-old peacock idol at Chennai’s Kapaleeswarar temple with a fake one.

An Air India plane carrying 179 passengers struck a building at Stockholm's Arlanda airport with its wingtip as it taxied to gate on Wednesday, but no injuries were reported, police said.

"The 179 passengers could disembark from the plane on a mobile staircase and thereafter enter the terminal," police wrote in a statement.

The Delhi High court on Wednesday upheld the the conviction of 88 people by a trial court in connection with 1984 anti-Sikh riots in East Delhi's Trilokpuri area.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Wednesday ordered the suspension of Delhi's food and supplies commissioner over alleged irregularities in ration system, Food minister Imran Hussain said.

Petrol price Wednesday fell below Rs 74 per litre mark for the first time since April as the six-week long price reduction spree wiped off all of the massive price hikes witnessed in petrol and diesel rates earlier this year.

Petrol price in Delhi was cut by 50 paisa to Rs 73.57 per litre, according to a price notification issued by state-owned fuel retailers. This is the lowest petrol price since April.
