SINGAPORE: Indian conglomerate Wipro has formed a strategic partnership with two American companies to offer a software package that optimises the entire Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) supply chain.

The partnership, called RapidLNG, aims to serve some 500 LNG companies globally, ranging from upstream gas production to consumer market, Wipro officials said after launching the scheme in Singapore at the LNG Global Congress held this week.

BENGALURU: Wipro has won a $150 million (Rs 900 crore) IT outsourcing deal from the Allied Irish Banks (AIB), one of the big four commercial banks in Ireland. India's third largest IT services company will provide infrastructure management services (IMS), data centre and hosting services to AIB over five years. "We are excited to partner with AIB in their journey to transform the Bank. We will bring our expertise to build agile and adaptive infrastructure while improving the predictability and cost effectiveness of services," said Rajan Kohli, senior vice president and global head - banking and financial services in Wipro.

In the first major expansion drive for its software development centre in the city, IT major Wipro Technologies has committed a 4,000-seater facility in Bhubaneswar. The facility would come up on the IT firm's existing campus spread over 26 acres of land at the Infocity area on city's outskirts.

"Wipro has discussed its expansion plan for Bhubaneswar. They have committed to set up a 4,000-seater complex in 18 months. Construction work on this facility is expected to commence in a couple of months. Wipro would set up a G+8 block at its existing facility.

New York/London: Wipro Ltd, an Indian information-technology (IT) consulting firm that counts energy companies among its clients, said some of those customers have cut back on awarding contracts amid a record decline in oil prices.

In recent weeks, Wipro has seen a drop in IT contracts linked to large capital projects in the energy sector, chief executive officer T.K. Kurien said in an interview on Tuesday at the World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland. While Kurien didn’t identify the projects on hold, he said they were mostly those that hadn’t yet broken ground.

Indian stocks rose for a third day after Wipro, the third-biggest software exporter, reported profit that beat estimates and as crude oil traded in New York had its first weekly gain since November.

Wipro rallied the most in 18 months. Reliance Industries, owner of the world's largest refining complex, rose for a third day. Axis Bank jumped to a record. Hindustan Unilever tumbled the most since January 2011, after reporting the slowest sales growth in three quarters.
