State-run power producer NTPC Wednesday said it has won 85 mega watt (MW) of solar capacity in a reverse auction held by the UP government.

"NTPC participated in the 550 MW tender floated by Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) for grid-connected solar projects.

Shares of Coal India, Vedanta, NTPC, Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and Finolex Cables have hit their respective 52-week lows on the BSE on Monday.

“NTPC has invited players to construct fly ash-based geopolymer concrete roads. About 1,100 tonne of fly ash is used per km of geopolymer road,” the official told PTI.

KOLKATA: Ten out of 24 thermal power stations of India’s largest power generation company, NTPC, are stranded with zero fuel inventory or stocks that won’t last a day.

This has hit generation and revenue as the state-run firm is unable to cater to higher demand, company executives said.

That a large part of NTPC’s reported under-recoveries of Rs210 crore in Q2FY19 was due to unavailability of coal exacerbated the coal supply crisis in the country. The company had reported Rs 1,400 crore of under-recovery in FY18, of which Rs800 crore was due to coal shortage.

The company’s net profit slipped 1.1% year-on-year (y-o-y) to Rs2,417.6 crore in the quarter. Fuel stock at NTPC’s power plants remains low with current coal stock of 3.7 MT from a high of 6.9 MT.

Indian power producer NTPC Ltd reported a marginal fall in September-quarter profit on Friday, missing estimates, as higher expenses weighed.

Profit came in at 24.26 billion rupees ($334.03 million) for the three months ended Sept. 30, compared with 24.39 billion rupees a year earlier, said the country's largest electric utility company by market capitalisation.

State-run power producer NTPC has been given the green clearance for the Rs 77.32 billion expansion project of the Talcher Thermal Power Station in Odisha, a senior government official said Monday.

The company's proposal is to add two additional units of 660 MW each in the existing premise of the Talcher Tehermal Power Project (TTPP) located in Angul district, Odisha.

Burdened with steep tariffs on power from NTPC plants located outside Odisha, the state government has appealed to the Union Power Ministry to swap it with power sourced from the central power utility's plants located inside the state.
