TCS, BHEL, Adani Ports, Bank of India hit 52-week low

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Rallis India have touched their respective 52-week lows on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) after the Sensex slipped 243 points in early morning trade.

At 09:54 AM, the TCS was down 1% at Rs 2,328 after hitting a 52-week low of Rs 2,322 on the BSE. Shares of India's largest information technology services company by falling 8% in past one month as compared to 3% decline in the benchmark index.

Extending its losing streak for the third straight day, the rupee plunged by 34 paise to 66.99, hitting a two-year low against the US dollar in early trade on Friday on strong demand for the American currency from banks and importers amid sustained capital outflows. The rupee had last traded below 67 per dollar in September 2013.

Forex dealers said gains in the dollar against major global currencies and a lower opening in the domestic equity markets, weighed on the rupee.

Leading stock exchange BSE will classify warrants issued by companies into a separate group, called 'W', with effect from Friday.

Currently, all types of warrants are traded under 'F' Group.

The move follows after BSE (formerly known as Bombay Stock Exchange) launched three new sub-groups -- 'XC', 'XD' and 'XT' -- for companies listed exclusively on its platform last month.

Bharti Airtel has dipped nearly 4% to Rs 322, extending its previous day’s 2% decline on the BSE, after the company announced that it plans to invest Rs 60,000 crore over the next three years to expand its network.

This investment of Rs 60, 000 crore is over and above the Rs 1, 60,000 crore Airtel has already invested in its active and passive network, spectrum, fiber, submarine cables and systems till date, Bharti Airtel said in a release.

Shares of small sized companies are continue at their upward march with S&P Smallcap index is trading higher for the eight straight trading sessions on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

At 10:24 AM, the S&P BSE Smallcap index was up 0.55% at 11,712 points as compared to 0.18% rise in the S&P BSE Sensex. It hit an intra-day high of 11,713, its highest level since August 19, 2015.

Shares of automobile companies are in focus with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) S&P BSE Auto index hitting a three-month high ahead of Ashok Leyland, Maruti Suzuki India and Tata Motors inclusion in the MSCI India index. The changes will be implemented as of the close of November 30, 2015.

Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki India, Ashok Leyland and Bajaj Auto were up 2% each, while Mahindra & Mahindra up 1% on the BSE in late morning deals.

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty snapped two day losing streak on Thursday and closed 182.89 points and 52.20 points up at 25,958.63 and 7,883.80, respectively. Benchmark indices rose on hopes that the Parliament would consider a key reform on goods and services tax (GST) and some short coverings also uplift market mood on the last day of F&O expiry.

In the 50-share index, Tata Motors, Sun Pharma, Idea Cellular, GAIL and Reliance Industries gained between 2.35 per cent and 5.50 per cent.
