Operating through several divisions and subsidiaries, Fairmount Minerals, Ltd. is one of the United States' largest producers of industrial sand used for construction, metal casting, glass, landscaping, oil and gas stimulation, filtration, abrasives, and filler. Products include silica sand, resin-coated sand, lake sand, and other specialty sands, including those used in pool filters, golf course bunkers, and children's sand boxes. Fairmount Minerals has operations in seven states (primarily in the Midwest) and in Canada, Mexico, and China, 11 mining and mineral processing facilities and seven manufacturing plants.

General Engineering lays the groundwork for a customer's business. The company manufactures prefabricated concrete building materials and distributes construction goods made by other manufacturers. Products include precast concrete forms, bridge bearings, and expansion joints. The company's core products are its prestressed concrete pilings. Designed for the moist climate and soft soil of Thailand, its pilings are used in the foundations of highways, factories, power plants, and other structures. General Engineering also produces industrial grout and rapid hardening concrete under a license from Japan-based Denki Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha. Customers include the Thailand Department of Highways.
