CSK Auto likes people who look under their own hoods. The retailer of automotive parts and accessories sells mainly to do-it-yourselfers but also to auto professionals and commercial installers. CSK Auto operates some 1,340 stores in 20-plus mostly western states under the names Checker Auto Parts, Schuck's Auto Supply, Kragen Auto Parts, and Murray's Discount Auto Stores. Kragen Auto Parts runs more than 500 stores, mostly in California; Checker Auto Parts operates about 490 stores throughout the West and Hawaii; and Schucks' some 220 stores are in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, and California. CSK Auto is now a subsidiary of O'Reilly Automotive, which bought it in 2008 for about $500 million, plus debt.
