Machilipatnam : An Introduction |
Machilipatnam also known as Masulipatnam or Bandar or Masula is a city and a special grade municipality in Krishna district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The town existed since 3rd century BC (Satavahana period) when it was known as 'Maisolos' (Ptolemy) and as 'Masalia' (Periplus).[4] Flourishing sea trade was carried out from Masula port.Its local name is Brundavanapuram. It is located on the southeastern or Coromandel Coast of India. Situated on one of the mouths of the river Krishna at the Bay of Bengal, Machilipatnam is the administrative center of Krishna District in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Manginapudi Beach :Manginapudi is a beachside fishing village, located 11 km from Machilipatnam. Previously, this village used to serve as a port. The Manginapudi Beach features a natural bay containing shallow water. Unlike other beaches, the Manginapudi Beach is made of black soil.During the festival of Maghapoornami pilgrims flock at the beachside to take a dip in the seawater. There is also a dance school at the beach, offering courses in Kuchipudi dance form. In the months of February or March, a festival called 'Krishna Utsav' is celebrated at the beachside. |

Panduranga Swamy Temple :Panduranga Swamy Temple is a famous temple in Machilipatnam, within the state of Andhra Pradesh. The founder of this temple is Sri Bhakta Narasimham. He was born in Veskhapatnam District at Bobili Mandalam, and had three children. His eldest son's sons, named Pandurangarao and Shiva, are the preachers at this temple. It is located in Chilakalapudi, Machilipatnam, Krishna District, Andhrapradesh. It has a spiritual significance among the people of Machiliptnam. The deity and the garbhagriha of the temple are very similar to Pandaripur Temple. Every year during the Kartika Month there will be a festival at this temple. |
