Kovalam : Kovalam is a beach town on the Arabian Sea in Thiruvananthapuram city, Kerala, India. It is located around 13 km from the down town of Trivandrum. Kovalam first received attention when the Regent Maharani Sethu Lakshmi Bayi of Travancore constructed her beach resort, Halcyon Castle, here towards the end of the 1920s. Thereafter the place was brought to the public eye by her nephew the Maharaja of Travancore.The European guests of the then Travancore kingdom discovered the potentiality of Kovalam beach as a tourist destination in the 1930s. However, Kovalam shot into limelight in the early seventies with arrivals of the masses of hippies on their way to Ceylon in the Hippie Trail. |

Veli Tourist Village : About 8 km from Thiruvananthapuram city.This picnic spot, where the Veli Lake meets the Arabian Sea, offers boating facilities. Pedalboats and paddleboats can be hired to explore the charms of the lagoon in a leisurely manner. For a quick ride over the waters, speedboats are available for hire. Children enjoy climbing over the huge sculptures which dot the landscape. |

Shree Padmanabhaswamy temple : Shree Padmanabhaswamy temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Thiruvananthapuram, India. The shrine is currently run by a trust headed by the royal family of Travancore.The temple is one of 108 Divya Desams (Holy Abodes of Vishnu) - principal centres of worship of the deity in Vaishnavism. The temple, constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture, is glorified in the Divya Prabandha, the early medieval Tamil literature canon of the Tamil Alvar saints (6th-9th centuries CE). |

Thiruvananthapuram Zoo : The Thiruvananthapuram Zoo was established by the Maharaja of Travancore in 1857 as an annex to the Napier Museum. The zoo was originally built with the typical iron-barred cages prevalent at the time, and was designed for recreational purposes, but with increased loss of forest and wildlife due to human development, the goal of the Zoo has changed from recreation to conservation.

Ponmudi :Ponmudi (The Golden Peak) is a hillstation in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala in South India. Its located 61 km north-east of Trivandrum city at an altitude of 1100 m. It is a part of the Western Ghats mountain range that runs parallel to the Arabian Sea. Ponmudi is connected to Trivandrum by a narrow winding road offering scenic views on the way to Ponmudi. The climate is pleasant year-round. Trivandrum serves as a base for trekking and hiking. There are also tea gardens in the area. |

Neyyar Dam : Neyyar Dam is located about 30 km away from Trivandrum city. Facility for Boating in the reservoir and a beautiful garden are the major attractions. The picturesque blue lake in which the reservoir is built is a beautiful site.There is another importance to this place. Some of the rare medicinal herbs are found in this area. The dam is a part of the Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The forests accommodates elephants, tigers, wild buffaloes and a variety of snakes.

Sree Subramanya Swamy Temple : Sree Subramanya Swamy Temple is situated at Ulloor, 7 km from Thiruvananthapuram. The presiding deity is Lord Subramanya (Lord Muruga). The temple holds two annual festivals namely the Koodiyattom Festival and the Thypooyam Festival. The 8-day long Koodiyattom festival commences with 'Koodiyattom' and ending with 'Arattu.' Kathakali, elephant processions and temple music are the highlights of this festival. The main event of the Thypooyam festival is Kavadi Aattam, a ritual dance carrying Kavadis.

Padmanabhapuram Palace : Padmanabhapuram Palace complex is located in at Padmanabhapuram Fort, close to the town of Thuckalay in Kanyakumari District, Tamilnadu, in India. It is about 20 km from Nagercoil, and about 50 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The palace complex is inside an old granite fortress around four kilometers long. The palace is located at the foot of the Veli Hills, which form a part of the Western Ghats. The river Valli flows nearby.
