Port of Anchorage: The Port of Anchorage is a critical link between the U.S. state and Alaska, providing an estimated 90% of the merchandise cargo to 80% of Alaska's populated areas. The Port of Anchorage also provides essential fuel supplies to the Anchorge and southcentral area and serves as the entry point for additional goods and cargos distributed to rural Alaskan communities. Vakalapudi Lighthouse : Vakalapudi Lighthouse is situated about 10 Km north east from Kakinada town. Kakinada(previously Cocanada) is an ancient port since the period of Kakatiyas. The British East India Company had established their agency here in the mid 19th century and introduced a regular Steamer service to ply between Rangoon and Machilipatnam touching important ports on the route including Kakinada.In 1860 a masonry column was raised in the port area for placing an oil lamp. This beacon was painted white. The work for the lighthouse tower began in 1874 and competed in 1878. |

JNTU Kakinada : The College was established on 16th July 1946 as the College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam situated at Kakinada. It was later named as the Government College of Engineering, Kakinada. After being initially affiliated to the University of Madras and later to the Andhra University, it became a constituent College of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University at the time of its formation on 2nd October 1972.
